Being welcomed back to Ben’s Brew Station for our last gig in Yankton was a perfect way to round out our shows for the weekend. Everyone rallied hard, as the weather was still heavy with “stick” due to the storm that crushed us on Friday. I read on my weather app that Yankton actually had record breaking rain that weekend. Nate says it’s really just us, bringing Tacoma weather with us whenever we come out here! Anyway. it was so hot, even the shaded tables with umbrellas provided little relief from the oppressive heat. But the patio was packed and full of CS fans. There were only three or four newcomers to the Champagne party. WE even found out that some people drove almost two hours to see us!
We fought our way through dehydration, exhaustion, and delirium to give a heartfelt and honest show, full of emotions and stories. Another gig to be proud of, showing up even when you’re uncomfortable and sweating and tired. The fans make it all worth it. Pictured here are super-fans, Tiffany and Greg who had us sign their shirt and hat, as “I Like You” has always been their favorite song! I actually put a shirt on over my outfit because everyone wanted hugs and I was totally clammy and wet and did NOT need people taking all that with them after each hug!
As Jared and I sang the final lines to “Leather Life”, stating, “I never really think about what I might be doing ‘round this time next year”, I couldn’t help but look at our fans and feel like we were being a tiny bit dishonest. I do think about what we might be doing next year. Our tours may look different as the years go on, but I can’t imagine ever skipping Yankton. I feel like Jared and I will always do what we can to get out to our little home-away-from-home, our paradise on the Missouri River, Yankton, South Dakota. Thank you again. You NEVER disappoint. We love you!
