The day began with the always dreaded, but widely anticipated “jump” photo that I’ve been making (I mean “asking”) the boys to take since we met them. It’s fun because it measures the passage of time visually, and I am pretty certain they all secretly love it.

After we said our goodbyes to the family, we headed into the Bitterroot, more specifically, Hamilton, MT to play at the Bitterroot Brewery. We had to make one more stop at Rockin’ Rudy’s before we left for good.

That night, although ANOTHER Montana storm raged on outside, we were warm and well-received inside. I had been in conversation with my mom the day before about the hardest parts of being on the road. Aside from all the obvious things that can wear on a person, the art of staying present towards the end is one of my biggest struggles. My mom said, “Well, you know in those three gigs you have left is someone who’s supposed to see you, supposed to have their whole life changed by your happy music.” I know she’s right, and I also know that person may or may not ever reach out to let us know that, but that should impact the job we do. I heard a great quote along those same lines, “Be where your feet are”. I really sunk into these last three gigs, and if not for “them”, definitely for “me”.

Sweet little Montana fan, Rusty, sporting the new, metallic gold and white version of a Champagne Sunday tank we have! Looking AMAZING, as usual.

Two more gigs to go, but we will stay present and keep ourselves in those spaces and not on the road to home. Let’s do this!
