I love antique stores and all they embody. Past and present, junk and quality, broken and preserved, it is all there. Anything you could imagine. I really love going into them in different small towns. Just a massive collection, showcasing the residents of the town and the many generations who have dwelled there. Today I met Barb and her sweet Boston Terrier, Lily (who I failed to get a photo with, sadly😢) and we had some nice conversation. I had some time to kill while laundry was being done, so I just bopped around the Yankton Antique Mall and took in all the delights.

With my classy Miller Lite tee shirt, I fit right in, but this sweet 16 vanity just begged for the juxtaposing selfie to be snapped.

Rudy would have absolutely loved this place. So many retro and vintage toys and paraphernalia to enjoy.

 The King, forever trapped.

Some of my childhood favorites.

If I was on the toilet trying to go “number two”, and this skull was posed for all eternity next to me, I too would have a look of consternation on my face.

I’d say 80% of my childhood was in this corner.

I dunno…cuz baking?

Live birds anyone?

This was not even ALL their salt and pepper shakers…😳

I just dug this pony. (Jared here: Nice reference.)

Overall super enjoyable experience. Ten out of ten and will definitely come back.

Upon return to the laundromat, I felt compelled by the spirit of our ten-year-old to try the claw machine. We have a pretty solid, “One chance” policy, so I was determined to hold myself to the same standard. Would you know it guys, the Gods of Shitty Toys were smiling as I quickly passed on a better, clearly more well-made, even recognizable stuffie in favor of a face-buried-balls-deep-and-buns-up, orange and green bear… I think. He needed a home and I was willing to risk my whole dollar on his pathetic life. The happy ending you were all waiting for is that this little dude will make the rest of the journey with us and live happily ever after in our son’s room. (Until he goes into a goodwill bag…but don’t tell him that)!

I did it for Rudy, but man I had a fun time. I took a video in case I actually won. You can check it out on our Instagram page
