The Heart Breaks
By Jessi Fredeen
the heart breaks
with each failure
each disappointment
each dismissal
each rejection
the heart breaks
the heart mends
with each smile
each acceptance
each life changed
each cheer
the heart mends
oh little heart
how easily you sway
how simple it is to effect you by taking things away
how ‘at the time’ and ‘in the moment’ you live from day to day
oh little heart
when will you learn
there’s danger in this way
the heart breaks
the heart mends
it’s silly now
was silly then
oh little heart, when will you bend
it wears you so to break and mend
oooooooooooooohh. please tell me you will put some music to that one.
the simplicity of the words is amazing…………..i looooove it.
it is not only true, but every single person on the face of the earth has been there..and you also with your heart and with your life’s experiances…….so tempting to ask God to take our hearts out and replace them with a little tiny pump that has no feelings or wounds….but then He would not need to comfort and heal us here anymore.
i always pray that every single hurt will be balanced out by a joy…I actually think this does happen, but many times we don’t look into the “balance”…if we could just only believe and actually realize that God is always fair and just…..it is tough at times, but your words portray such truth…..God says that our “hearts are deceitful above all things”…..they trick us and fool us and pull us here and there……why don’t they just stick to pumping blood and leave us the heck alone??!!?!?!? I LOVE THE POEM.
